According to the USDA, Americans take in more than twice the maximum recommended limit of 40 grams of added sugar per day. To reduce this intake, limit the amount of candy and soda you eat, as well as the amount of sugar you put in your coffee per day.

Also, beware of sauces when you are out to eat. Condiments such as ketchup, relish, BBQ sauce, hot sauce and salad dressings can sometimes get more than half of their calories from added sugar. Don’t give them up completely; just ask for them on the side when you order!
